How it works
From “does this apply to us?” to briefed and ready

Step 1
Check if it applies
Two minutes, no account. You get a dated record of the reasoning, linked to the Act.

Step 2
Describe your building
Exits, safer rooms, who's on duty, how you'd tell people. Plain questions, no security knowledge needed.

Step 3
Check and sign off
We draft your four procedures for that building. You review every line, change anything, and sign them off.

Step 4
Brief your team
Put the QR poster up. Each person picks their role, reads their part in three minutes, and it's logged.
Watch
See it in under a minute
A quick look at the whole journey, from the free scope check to the evidence pack. No sound needed: everything is on screen.
Why Readybrief
More than a template, and honest about it
Written for your building, signed off by you
Not a blank template. Procedures name your own exits, rooms and people, and nothing is final until you've checked it.
Briefings by role
Stewards, bar staff, group leaders and helpers each see their own part, plus what your plan says, then a quick check.
Ready for the questions
One evidence pack: your scope reasoning, signed procedures, who's been briefed and every practice, with photos.
Look after many venues?
Dioceses, pub companies, trusts and councils see every venue on one screen. Fire risk assessors can offer it under their own brand.

Questions
Common questions
Does Martyn's Law apply to us?
Probably, if 200 or more people can be at your premises at the same time, counting staff and volunteers. Places of worship, schools and childcare premises are always in the standard tier. Our free scope check takes two minutes and gives you a dated record of the reasoning. Run the free scope check
When does it start?
The duties aren't in force yet. The SIA, the regulator, expects them to start in spring 2027 and will confirm the date. That leaves time to prepare calmly.
The SIA will publish a free template. Why use Readybrief?
A template gives you a blank document. Readybrief drafts procedures for your own building from a short walkthrough, then keeps them alive: role-by-role briefings for every new volunteer, a drill log with photos, review reminders and one evidence pack. You can still use the free template alongside us.
Can we use it in Welsh?
Yes. Procedures can be drafted in Welsh, volunteers can read their briefing in Welsh or English, and posters come in Welsh, English or both. The rest of the site is in English for now. Darllenwch yn Gymraeg
Will Readybrief make us “compliant”?
No product can promise that, and the government has warned against anyone who does. We help you prepare, keep a record and show your reasoning. You check and sign off every procedure yourself. Read our checklist before you pay anyone
Do we need to buy CCTV, bag searches or security staff?
No. For standard tier venues the duty is about sensible procedures and making sure people know them, so far as reasonably practicable. We never sell equipment.
Is it AI? Can we trust what it writes?
AI writes a first draft from your answers about your building. Nothing is final until a person at your venue has checked every line and signed it off, and you can edit anything.
Is our information safe?
Your procedures are encrypted, stored in the UK/EU, kept out of logs and never used to train AI. Only people with your venue's private link, or signed-in members of your organisation, can see them. We delete them when you ask. Privacy notice
Do we have to tell the SIA ourselves?
Yes, once the duties start, and it will be free to do on GOV.UK. We'll remind you and help you keep the details you'll need, such as how you worked out your numbers. How to notify the SIA (GOV.UK)
Who is behind Readybrief?
Readybrief is run by Chris Rough, an independent UK founder. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by the SIA, the Home Office or ProtectUK. About us
